Footballer Christian Atsu Remains Missing After Turkey Earthquakes

Three massive earthquakes jolt Turkey and Syria within 12 hours, measuring 7.8, 7.7 and 6 on the Richter scale. A powerful earthquake occurred here yesterday morning. And it is 20 km underground. The US Geological Survey reported that it was centred at depth.

About 20 strong aftershocks followed the first major earthquake. The earthquake centred on the city of Gaziantep and was felt throughout Turkey. Hundreds of buildings in many parts of Turkey collapsed like a deck of cards during the earthquake. More than 1,500 buildings were reported to have collapsed. It is reported that more than 4000 people have died from this earthquake.

In this situation, the former leading player of the famous football club teams Chelsea FC and Newcastle FC, 31-year-old Ghanaian Christian Atsu, has gone missing, according to reports. According to Mustafa Ozad, the spokesperson, the club director is also missing. He also said that since they could not be contacted, it is believed that they may have been trapped in the rubble. 

He said that only two members of the Hatayspor team, Atsu and Saud, are still missing, and the rest of the players are safe. Regarding this, the President of Ghana said, I offer my condolences to the people of Turkey. And we pray for our citizen Christian Atsu to stay safe and healthy. 

Ghana Football Association spokesman Henry Asante said in an email to a news agency that there is no news about Atsu, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ghana continues to speak to Turkish officials. And Chelsea F.C. The football team said on its Twitter page, "We are praying for you, Christian Atsu."
