UN Resolution Against Russia With 141 Countries Vote, India Abstains

Russia Ukraine war has intensified, and a referendum was held on a resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution urging Russia to suspend its attack on Ukraine immediately. While 141 countries supported the resolution, 35 countries, including India, Pakistan and China, abstained.

Russia's war against Ukraine continues as the 8th day. The situation of Ukraine is getting worse day by day. The public is still surviving with hope and fear. The nations of the world fiercely opposed this war. Many countries, including Britain, the United States and the European Union, have imposed resolutions against Russia.

Of the 193 member states, 141 supported the resolution. Russia, Syria, Belarus, North Korea and Eritrea voted against Russia. Thirty-five countries, including India, China, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, abstained from voting on the resolution. In this situation, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. India did not vote on the resolution for the third time.

UN calls on Russia to end the war. Although the resolution was passed in the General Assembly, the country concerned was not required to comply. However, there will be global political pressure on Russia. It is noteworthy that on the day of the resolution, Russia intensified military operations, including airstrikes on the Ukrainian port of Kherson and a missile attack on the city of Kharkiv.

The resolution was passed with a majority, with 141 countries voting in favour. It condemned Russia's announcement of nuclear forces and Belarus' involvement in the operation. It also called for an end to the war and a negotiated settlement.
