Taxi Driver Sentenced For 20 Years Imprisonment For Sexual Assault

Madras High Court has sentenced the call taxi driver to 20 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl.

A 55-year-old call taxi driver was hailing from the Villupuram district. He stayed at his relative's house in Chennai on August 15, 2018. At that time, he threatened and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl at his relative's house.

Following a complaint filed by the girl's mother, the police arrested the driver and put him in jail. The trial in this regard took place before Judge M. Rajalakshmi. Special Public Prosecutor Kavitha appeared for the police.

Three years for threatening to kill, 20 years of Prison under the POCSO Act and a fine of Rs 10,000 has been ruled for the accused. The state government should pay compensation of 10 lakh rupees to the victim girl.
