Tamil Nadu Weather: Heavy rain Will Occur In 32 Districts Today

A 'red alert has been issued for heavy rains in Tamil Nadu today as the low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal has strengthened, and Tamil Nadu is approaching Puducherry.

Heavy rain will occur in 32 districts today, said the Meteorological Department. The low-pressure area formed over the Southwest Bay of Bengal is gradually strengthening.

As of yesterday morning, it is prevailing in South West Bay of Bengal, adjacent to Sri Lankan coastal areas. It is likely to strengthen further today and move northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu, Puducherry coast.

Heavy rain is likely to occur in three districts of Tiruvallur, Ranipet and Kanchipuram today due to the approach of a low-pressure area.

Chennai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vellore, Tirupattur, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Trichy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, 15 districts and Puducherry, Karaikal will receive very heavy rain today.

Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Pudukottai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Tirupur, Coimbatore and Nilgiris are likely to receive heavy rain at one or two places. Elsewhere, there will be moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
