Tamil Nadu Weather Report: Heavy Rain Expected In Eight District Today

The northeast monsoon has started in Tamil Nadu on the 26th. Following this, heavy rain is falling in various parts of Tamil Nadu.

A low-pressure area has formed in the central part of the southwestern Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an 'Orange Alert' for Tamil Nadu due to the intensification of low-pressure areas. A low-pressure area prevails over the southwestern Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Sri Lankan coast.

Heavy rain is forecast for the next three days as the low-pressure area moves towards the coast of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rains are expected in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu till November 1.

The protracted low-pressure area in the southwestern Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas of Sri Lanka is likely to move westwards in the next three days. 

Due to this, the Meteorological Department said that the Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Nagai and Mayiladuthurai districts in Tamil Nadu are likely to receive heavy rains. 

Since yesterday evening, it has been raining heavily in Nagai, Trichy, Nellai, Tanjore, Thoothukudi and Thiruvarur districts. Holidays were declared for schools in the above-mentioned districts as the rains continued.

Due to this, heavy rain with thunder and lightning is expected at one or two places in Tenkasi, Nellai, Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts today. Thundershowers will develop at one or two places in Karaikal and moderate showers at several places in other districts including the delta region.
