Finally, The family of T Selvan, Lorry driver who was beaten to death on Sept 17, received his body on Monday after Tirunelveli DIG took action under suspension against police inspector Harikrishnan, charged as an instigator.

Selvan was abducted and murdered by AIADMK commerce wing secretary Thirumanavel and his supporters over a land dispute on Sept 17. The body was negligently thrown at Chokkankudiyiruppu, Sathankulam Taluk. Lately, The State government had hand-over the case to the CB-CID.

The victim's family refused to collect the body for the last four days to ensure the suspects are penalized.T Elisabeth, Selvan's mother, had given a complaint on Thirumanavel, who influenced police inspector Harikrishnan to frame Selvan and his brothers Bangaru Rajan and Peter Raja in a case to seize their 1.75-acres of agricultural land.

Yesterday, Tirumanvel and Muthukrishnan had surrendered in the Chennai Saidapet court. Thoothukudi Collector Sandeep Nanduri and SP Jeyakumar convinced the family to revoke the protest and receive the body. The false cases against Selvan's brothers Bangaru Rajan and Peter Raja had sought anticipatory bail. The AIADMK expelled Thirumanavel from the party.

Unknown miscreants vandalized Anitha Radhakrishnan's car in Thandapathu near Tiruchendur around 1.30 am on Monday for supporting the protest led by Victim's family. CCTV footage helped to arrest S Jinnah (27) and G Selvanayagam (47), supporters of Thirumanavel. The chief minister also allotted a Patta land with a solar-powered house for the family, a widow pension, and a government job for Selvan's wife.
