As heavy rain continues in various districts of Tamil Nadu, school holidays have been given in 3 districts.

The Chennai Meteorological Department has said the rain would continue in Tamil Nadu for the next few days. An orange alert has been issued in Tamil Nadu due to the possibility of very heavy rain in many places.

As the Northeast Monsoon started on October 29, the rains are intensifying in Tamil Nadu. Due to the presence of low atmospheric circulation in the Southwest Bay of Bengal along the North Sri Lankan coast and the onset of the Northeast Monsoon, the rainfall will continue in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until October 6.

With heavy rains in the delta and coastal districts, holidays have been declared for schools and colleges in the Mayiladuthurai district. The District Collectors have ordered a holiday only for schools in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts today.
