Due to low atmospheric circulation over Andaman and adjoining areas, a low-pressure area will likely develop over the Southeast and adjoining Central East Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that it may intensify into a storm over the Central West Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours.

Due to the low atmospheric circulation prevailing over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal today. Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur and Tiruchirappalli districts received heavy rainfall in one or two places.
